On August 28, 2007, it became known that a 26-year-old skinhead was detained in Yekaterinburg, who had beaten an unfamiliar man "out of national dislike" in July 2006.
"In addition to beating, the detainee, whose name is not named in the interests of the investigation, verbally insulted a man who, in his opinion, was not outwardly Slavic," the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District reported.
During the investigation, a member of an extremist group was arrested, he was charged under paragraph "a" part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("incitement of national hatred committed with the use of violence"). The course of the investigation of the criminal case was taken under special control by the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District.
