In mid-September 2007, it became known that an organized group of teenagers-skinheads who had killed people from the Caucasus had been identified in Barnaul. Law enforcement officers detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center 5 young people, two of them were later released, three are in custody. The police are sure that the circle of those involved in nationalistic crimes is much wider. All the detainees are residents of the Altai Territory, university students, and come from quite prosperous families.
The killings began in the summer of 2007. At the moment, there are 2 murders on the account of neo-Nazis - both victims are natives of Azerbaijan. One of them was killed on 5 August. Then we reported about the arrest of two suspects. Probably three others were detained later. Unfortunately, the date and details of the second murder are not reported. It is also known that another victim of the neo-Nazis was a resident of the region with a Mongoloid appearance (Altaian) - he barely managed to escape from the attackers.
Investigators have no doubt that all the crimes of the gang had an ideological (racist) motivation. During searches of the apartments of the detainees, a large amount of neo-Nazi literature was seized.
An analysis of right-wing Internet blogs in Barnaul shows that the suspects in the case are recognized as "their own" in the ultra-right community. After the arrest of 3 suspects, a campaign was organized on the Internet to raise funds to pay for the services of lawyers for the detained neo-Nazis. The fundraiser was allegedly organized by a man suspected of distributing Nazi leaflets on May 9th.
The verdict in the case was handed down at the end of June 2009.
