On September 28, 2007, an anti-Semitic incident occurred on board an Aeroflot plane flying from Moscow to Munich.
This happened at an altitude of 10 kilometers, when there were 40 minutes left before landing. Mikhail Shamanov, one of the passengers in the business class cabin, was indignant when he discovered “several, in his opinion, citizens of Jewish nationality” around. At the suggestion of the flight attendants, the man jumped up and began shouting that he was a “Don Cossack”, “the nephew of General Shamanov” and would show “these Jews”; , after which he tried to attack one of the passengers. The passenger was stronger and stopped the attacker.
After landing, passengers and flight attendants handed him over to the police, called by the crew. The police detained him for several hours, and after drawing up a report on an administrative violation, he was released.
