The head of the affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan of Kaluga and Borovsk Kliment (Kapalin), speaking at a meeting of the Commission of the Public Chamber for the Preservation of Cultural and Spiritual Heritage and the Presidium of the Union of Museums of Russia, said that the Russian Orthodox Church is going to create a system of its own museums. On this occasion, the ROC is negotiating with the Ministry of Culture.
“Even before the revolution, church museums were created, which were called ancient repositories. I think that now it is necessary to establish closer cooperation between the Church and museum workers, who have accumulated extensive experience in preserving monuments, their restoration, have modern technical means. And the Church will be able to open ancient repositories, as before revolution," the hierarch said.
