Will the Moscow Region police register migrant children as an anti-terrorism measure?

On October 19, 2007, it became known that some schools in the Moscow region of Khimki began to receive documents from the Department of Internal Affairs with a request to provide information on children from the Caucasus and Central Asia.

According to journalist Alexander Minkin, letters sent to the directors of Khimki schools and signed by the head of the Criminal Police of the Internal Affairs Directorate say: “In connection with the implementation of anti-terrorist measures, we ask you to provide lists of children studying at your educational institution, immigrants from the Republics (states) of the Caucasus, the North Caucasus , Central Asia, indicating home addresses and attaching characteristics of the place of study. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!” .

Let us recall that at the end of September-October 2006, during the “anti-Georgian campaign,” the Moscow police tried in a similar way to identify schoolchildren with “Georgian surnames.”
