DPNI leader A. Belov detained in Moscow

On October 22, 2007, the leader of the Movement Against Illegal Immigration (DPNI), Alexander Belov, was detained by police officers in the center of Moscow. According to unofficial data, the arrest was made by order of a magistrate in the framework of a case initiated under the article "petty hooliganism." It is known that in the afternoon the leader of the DPNI was taken to the Chertanovsky District Court.

A. Belov's associates are sure that his detention is connected with the next "Russian March" planned for November 4.

On October 24, searches were carried out in the apartment of A. Belov, who was in the hospital after being detained. Searches also took place in the apartment of A. Belov's parents and in the premises of the organizing committee of the "Russian March-2007". According to updated information, both the detention and the searches are connected with the investigation of the criminal case by the Voronezh Prosecutor's Office under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting national hatred) on the holding in the summer of 2006 of a nationalist rally by the NSO in Voronezh. A. Belov himself and members of his movement did not take part in the rally, however, the Organizing Committee of the "Russian March" includes the "Rus" MANPADS, which closely cooperates with the NSO.
