Suspects detained in failed terrorist attack at St. Petersburg rock club

At the end of October 2007, three people were detained on suspicion of organizing a failed explosion at the St. Petersburg Rocks Club.

The criminal case, previously initiated under Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal possession of weapons and ammunition), was reclassified to Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorism).

On October 25, 2007, the first suspect in the case, a 21-year-old city resident, was detained in St. Petersburg. On October 27, 2007, two more suspects were detained in Moscow - a 21-year-old Muscovite and a 22-year-old resident of St. Petersburg. The first detainee was taken into custody on October 29.

Law enforcement officials believe that the leader of the group was Muscovite Isaev.

Muscovites belong to groups of football fans and the Red Blitzkrieg group. One of the detainees was previously tested for involvement in the Schultz-88 group , but was not brought to criminal responsibility.

On October 30, 2007, the head of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office, Andrei Lavrenko, stated that “all three detainees were related to neo-Nazi youth groups.”

The head of the criminal police of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, Sergei Umnov, said that two St. Petersburg residents - Voronov, Muzalev - as well as a Muscovite Isaev, are members of the right-wing radical organization "Slavic Community" . At the same time, Muzalev and Isaev do not deny that they were members of the “Slavic Community,” but Voronov does not confirm this.

During searches at the apartments of the suspects, “extremist literature with nationalist content” was discovered, as well as instructions for making explosive devices and a diagram of a signal explosive device (IED). Representatives of law enforcement agencies believe that the attempted explosion at the Rocks Club was made deliberately against visitors, most of whom belong to the anti-fascist movement.
