St. Petersburg National Bolsheviks are accused of vandalism

On October 19, 2007, two National Bolsheviks were detained in St. Petersburg. Alexander Yashin and Konstantin Khristoforov are suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (vandalism).

The detainees painted the walls of several buildings with inscriptions "Osipov is a bribe taker", "Osipov is kickbacks, bribes", "Osipov is a murderer" (Yuri Osipov is the head - the head of the Primorsky district).

K. Khristoforov was released on bail, A. Yashin was taken into custody.

In the decision provided by the St. Petersburg National Bolsheviks on the choice of a measure of restraint, it is said that the crime was committed by a "group of persons", which corresponds to Part 2 of Article 214. In addition, it is mentioned that the crime was committed "motivated by political hostility", but does not indicate to whom.

This is the first time that the motive of political hostility has been applied under this article.

On November 12, 2007, the St. Petersburg City Court upheld the decision of the Primorsky District Court to keep A. Yashin in custody.
