President of the Russian Federation: “Those who preach the ideas of nationalism, xenophobia and religious intolerance must be put in place a strict barrier”

On November 10, 2007, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at an evening dedicated to the Day of the Police, announced the need to combat "manifestations of extremism."

"Russia has been strengthening and developing for centuries as a multinational and multi-confessional state. And those who preach the ideas of nationalism, xenophobia and religious intolerance should be put up with a hard barrier," Vladimir Putin said.

According to the president, "law enforcement agencies have enough legal means for this, as well as enough opportunities to competently analyze the situation in the criminal environment, identify the roots of crime and prevent its manifestations in all spheres of public life" .
