A series of attacks on foreigners in St. Petersburg

On November 18, 2007, a series of attacks on black foreigners took place in the center of St. Petersburg. In the period from 18.25 to 20 o'clock in the area between the Nevsky Prospekt-2 station (exit to the Griboyedov Canal Embankment) and the Kazan Cathedral, 5 citizens from Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Algeria suffered at the hands of a group of young people.

The injured were taken to city hospitals.

The attack on 2 sailors, citizens of Algeria, took place near a cafe located on the Griboyedov Canal. Fuad Yang, 21, was diagnosed with an open craniocerebral injury, brain contusion, contused head wounds, and 19-year-old Chikadui Jamel had bruised wounds of the parieto-occipital region.

Unknown young people attacked a 21-year-old citizen of Afghanistan, a student of the Polytechnic University, on Kazanskaya street. The young man was taken to the hospital with a closed craniocerebral injury, concussion and fracture of the lower jaw.

The attack on a 24-year-old citizen of Nigeria took place near the Kazan Cathedral. He was hospitalized with a diagnosis of a closed craniocerebral injury and concussion.

22-year-old Indian citizen S. Patvardkhan, a student of the Pediatric Medical Academy, was attacked at about 20:00 on Kazanskaya Square. The student was hit on the head several times.

Law enforcement agencies do not exclude that all 5 attacks may be related. All victims describe the attackers in approximately the same way. Now all possible versions are being worked out, including the version about a "pre-planned action of extremist-minded thugs."
