Confiscated campaign materials will be returned to SPS

On December 2, 2007, on the day of elections to the State Duma, it became known that the verification of campaign materials confiscated from the Union of Right Forces on suspicion of the presence of extremism in them was coming to an end. 20 out of 35 million campaign publications will be returned to the Union of Right Forces on 4 December.

It should be noted that the practice of confiscating a whole circulation of newspapers or a leaflet on suspicion of the presence of signs of extremism in them, and then returning it to its owners after the event to which this or that material was timed, in our opinion, is unlawful. Several copies are sufficient for the examination.

Meanwhile, as it became known on December 3, the Sverdlovsky District Court of Perm only 4 days before the elections satisfied the application of the regional branch of the party, declared illegal the actions to seize the circulation of the newspaper "Problem No. 1" and decided to return the circulation of campaign materials.
