As the local newspaper Courier Belomorya wrote on September 18, “Kotlashans more than once found cynical inscriptions, occult signs and Nazi swastikas on grave monuments. In addition, cases were recorded more than once when grave fences and crosses were scrapped. The last episode of vandalism, by the way , also happened relatively recently - on the eve of Victory Day.However, what happened a few days ago is no longer banal hooliganism.

According to Alexander Shilov, deputy head of the district department of internal affairs, there were apparently three or four perpetrators. This was established by the footprints left at the crime scene. It is also known that before committing a crime, vandals drank. After that, they began to pull out crosses, break grave monuments, pull out grave fences. As for the punishment that vandals can suffer, according to Article 244 ( “Desecration of the burial places of the dead. - Ed. ) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, they face up to three years in prison.”

“By the way, the FSB is sure that the destruction of the cemetery was the work of one of the satanic sects,” the publication notes.
