On January 10, 2008, the Ivanovo Regional Prosecutor's Office reported in its report for the past year that in 2007 three crimes motivated by ethnic and religious hatred and enmity were registered in the Ivanovo Region.
Among them, damage to tombstones at a Muslim cemetery (a criminal case was initiated under subparagraphs "a" and "b" of part 2 of article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "desecration of burial places committed by a group of persons motivated by national hatred or enmity") ; attack on members of the Jewish community on the street of the regional center ( a criminal case was initiated and sent to court under paragraph "a" part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "actions aimed at inciting national hatred"), as well as an attack on L. Vereshchagina (a criminal case was initiated under part 1 of article 119 and paragraph "b" of part 2 of article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "threat to kill" and "beating based on national or religious hatred").
Unfortunately, we do not have more detailed information on the latter case. However, it can be assumed that this attack was committed after August 12, 2007, because. the case was initiated under the new edition of Art. 116, taking into account the motive of hatred.
