The next program “Capital of Multinational Russia” begins to operate in Moscow

On December 4, 2007, the Moscow government adopted a tolerance education program "The Capital of Multinational Russia" for 2008-2010. The program begins to operate from January 2008. Note that this is not the first such program adopted by the Moscow government.

"The Capital of Multinational Russia" includes the teaching of tolerance within the framework of the humanities school disciplines, primarily history. To educate, as well as in the courses "Ethnology" and "History of Religions of the World".

In addition, it is planned to hold many extra-curricular activities for children of different nationalities. In a number of schools "International Friendship Clubs" have been set up.

The program also plans to develop a network of ethnographic museums and folk art circles on the basis of the city's educational institutions, "to conduct lessons of courage and brotherhood aimed at preventing extremist sentiments . "

The developers of the program also plan to place posters around the city with "the image of prominent Muscovites of different nationalities, their statements about Moscow."

"TV films will be created about the history of the formation of Russia's multinationality, and public service announcements aimed at cultivating a culture of interethnic communication will be placed on television," the media reported.
