On January 4, 2008, at about 21:30 in the Central Lane of Tula, 3 underage residents of the city, for no apparent reason, attacked a teenager, a citizen of Uzbekistan. The attackers inflicted multiple kicks on the head and body of the teenager, after which they fled the scene. The victim died from his wounds.
On January 18, 2007, it became known that the suspects had been detained by law enforcement officers. With respect to one of them, a 16-year-old teenager, the Central District Court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention. The other two gave a written undertaking not to leave. According to investigators, the cause of the beating was the nationality of the deceased. A criminal case was initiated under part 4 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm, negligently resulting in the death of the victim).
