According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of extremist crimes in Russia has increased 3 times

On January 21, during a conference on national security issues held by the Academy of Military Sciences, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Chekalin said that over the past 4 years in Russia, the number of extremist crimes has increased 3 times.

"In 2004, there were 130 such crimes, in 2005 - 152, in 2006 - 263, in 2007 - 356," the Interior Ministry spokesman said. He specified that "basically these are crimes committed on national or religious grounds."
