On January 26, 2008, conscript Pavel Valeryevich Dudka, who is a parishioner of the Orthodox Church of the Mother of God Derzhavnaya (PTsBMD) ("Mother of God Center"), was beaten in the Savelovsky United Military Commissariat of the Northern District of Moscow. According to the victim, he was beaten for his religious beliefs by an employee of the military registration and enlistment office, Major Alexei Malykhin.
According to Portal-Credo.ru , Major Malykhin shouted that "we have a different god, a different church, and this is something wrong with you, therefore we will save you." A statement was also made that "besides Orthodoxy, i.e. the Russian Orthodox Church, there is Catholicism and Islam, and everything else is 'sects'."
The "Bogorodichniki" intend to seek protection from civil society institutions: human rights organizations and the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers.
On January 28 , Portal-Credo.ru reported that Pavel Dudka intended to withdraw his application, as Major A. Malykhin apologized to him and in connection with this the incident can be considered settled.
