On January 28, 2008, Bishop Nikon (Vasin) of Lipetsk and Yelets appealed to Governor Oleg Korolev with a request to expedite the issue of transferring the diocese of the ROC MP to the Trinity Church. An appeal was also prepared to Dmitry Medvedev and his wife (who oversees the comprehensive social program "Spiritual and Moral Culture of the Younger Generation in Russia" in the status of head of the Board of Trustees).
The order of the government of the Russian Federation, instructing the Federal Property Management Agency to transfer the Trinity Church to the ownership of the Lipetsk diocese, was issued on April 19, 2007.
Recall that the conflict around this temple has already been covered in the media.
The letter to the governor says that the bishop "formed a firm conviction that the administrations of the authorities at various levels are moving away from resolving this issue." In addition, the diocese does not want to enter into negotiations with the Protestants.
The Protestant community expressed their readiness to return the temple on the condition that they be compensated for the costs of restoring the premises. However, Bishop Nikon considers these claims of the Baptists to be illegal.
Currently, signatures of Orthodox believers are being collected under an appeal to the governor.
