On January 28, 2008, the Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of Adygea canceled the verdict of the Maykop City Court against student Viktor Milkov, who had posted a Nazi video on the Internet, "for leniency of punishment".
The protest against the decision of the court of first instance was appealed by the public prosecutor. According to him, the punishment "does not correspond to the nature and degree of social danger of the crime, the circumstances of its commission and the identity of the perpetrator."
Consideration of the case in the Maykop City Court is scheduled for January 31.
Recall that V. Milkov was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting ethnic hatred) and sentenced to a year of corrective labor with deduction in favor of the state of 10 percent of his earnings in November 2007.
Recall also that there is another criminal case related to this video. On November 16, 2007, the Prosecutor's Office of Veliky Novgorod opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting national hatred) on the fact of posting the file "video provocation.avi" on the Internet with a link to the same Nazi video with a scene of a brutal double murder.
