On February 27 (and according to some reports - already on February 23), 2008, the operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Teenager" began in Moscow to prevent extremism among young people, during which, according to complaints from residents, police officers detained young people, taking fingerprints and demanding to write " explanatory" about non-belonging to extremist organizations. The Moscow Central Internal Affairs Directorate claims that such facts, if they occurred, are "excesses on the ground."
Cases of detention of young people were recorded on several branches of the Moscow metro at once. According to the detainees themselves and their relatives, the young men were forced to undergo fingerprinting, be photographed and sign a paper that said they were neutral towards people from the Caucasus and not participating in extremist actions.
The police department promised to check the facts of illegal detention of teenagers.
