On February 27, 2008, Vladimir Churov, chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, during a visit to the Moscow Jewish Community Center, announced that the propaganda newspaper of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation "Pskovskaya Iskra" had been arrested for xenophobia.
"The perpetrators have been punished, the newspaper has been arrested, a trial is underway ," said V. Churov. Under what articles a criminal case was initiated, it is not reported.
It should be reminded that in February 2008, the election commission of the Pskov region found in one of the newspaper's materials "signs of extremism and incitement of national hatred" against Jews and sent the newspaper to the prosecutor's office of the Pskov region for verification.
