Representatives of “traditional” religions of Russia commented on the preliminary results of the presidential elections

On March 3, representatives of "traditional" religions for Russia expressed their attitude to the preliminary results of the presidential elections. According to the results of the preliminary vote count, Dmitry Medvedev is in the lead.

Patriarch Alexy II congratulated D. Medvedev on his victory in the elections and expressed hope that "the good relations that have developed between the secular and spiritual leadership will continue to develop and strengthen successfully."

Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar said that for him, as a representative of one of the "traditional" religions of Russia, D. Medvedev's position, aimed at ensuring interethnic and interreligious peace in the country, "at the free and dynamic development of religious communities, at stimulating the growth of spirituality, is of particular importance in society".

The head of the Council of Muftis of Russia, Ravil Gainutdin, expressed the hope that "the main direction in the activities of the new president will be the continuation of the course towards stability and unity in Russia."
