On March 16, 2008, in Voronezh, on Perevertkina Street, two teenagers (appearing to be 14-16 years old) beat up a 27-year-old Chinese citizen who works as a teacher in the city. The man was attacked at the entrance of the house where he lives.
The victim was injured and went to the hospital for medical assistance. The District Department of Internal Affairs opened a case under part 2 of article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (beating out of hooligan motives). An investigation is underway.
On May 28, 2008, the case was dismissed due to the reconciliation of the parties. The attackers fully compensated the victim for the damage. "During the investigation, it turned out that the attackers confused the Chinese with a local resident, with whom they had previously had a conflict ," a spokesman for the prosecutor's office said.
