The Smolensk regional court liquidated the United Methodist Church of Smolensk

On March 24, 2008, the religious organization United Methodist Church (UMC) of Smolensk was liquidated at the suit of the Smolensk Regional Prosecutor's Office. The reason for the liquidation was that the UMC organized the Sunday school "Our Hearts", which does not have a legal entity and a license.

In an interview to the press service of the Slavic Legal Center, the pastor of the UMC of Smolensk, Alexander Vtorov, said that "the genocide of Russian Protestant Christians is beginning in Russia, all Protestant Churches will be liquidated, because they have their own Sunday schools."

Recall that the audit conducted by the prosecutor's office of the Smolensk region in February, did not reveal any signs of extremism in the activities of the CMC.
