On March 26, 2008, in the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg, on Piskarevsky Prospekt, near the house 159, building 5, the body of an Azerbaijani citizen was found. The man died from stab wounds to the neck.
The murdered Lachin Gadzhiev, born in 1974, worked in St. Petersburg and rented housing in the area.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 105 (murder). The investigation does not exclude the motive of the nationalist murder.
On April 3, 2008, police detained two suspects in this case. They turned out to be 30-year-old citizens of Uzbekistan, registered in St. Petersburg. According to investigators, the detainees committed the murder out of mercenary motives. They hit the Azerbaijani on the head with a bottle, after which they hit him several times with a broken bottle in the chest and neck, took away the dead man's mobile phone and disappeared. The stolen property has been recovered.
