On May 13, 2008, charges were brought under Part 1 of Art. 282 (incitement of national and religious hatred) to Yuri Samodurov, director of the Sakharov Museum and Public Center. A criminalcase was initiated against him in connection with the exhibition “Forbidden Art - 2006”.
In January 2008, the museum was searched , during which transcripts of visitors' speeches and a folder with publications about the exhibition were seized.
Lawyer Anna Savitskaya stated that Samodurov does not admit his guilt and that they consider the accusation to be “non-specific.”
Let us remind you that this is not the first exhibition of the Sakharov Center that has caused criminal prosecution. For more information about the exhibition "Forbidden Art - 2006", see our section "Religion in a Secular Society" (including the texts of the indictments).
