Perm Protestant pastor insulted Muslims on television

On May 10, CNL broadcast a sermon by the senior pastor of the New Testament Pentecostal community in Perm, Eduard Grabovenko. During the sermon, the pastor made offensive remarks towards Muslims.

The website of the Perm diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church quotes from this sermon: “Imagine, God, even in such a situation, I am generally surprised, came to Hagar ... and said: “Hagar, I will not leave you. And from your son a great nation will come, but the discrepancy will remain. He will be like an unbridled donkey. He will hate everyone and is hated by everyone" <...> And you know, if today you look at the descendants of Hagar, they are like unbridled donkeys. Now a big problem has come for humanity, because a son was born from one, and a donkey from the other.

In the Perm diocese, E. Grabovenko's statements were considered unacceptable and offensive.

In turn, the Perm Muftiate expressed concern about the possibility of an aggravation of the inter-religious conflict in the region. "We believe that it would be quite appropriate for law enforcement agencies, the regional prosecutor's office to raise the issue of bringing Mr. Grabovenko to criminal responsibility for inciting inter-religious hatred and hatred," the response of the Perm Territory Spiritual Administration says.
