In Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region, on the night of June 1-2, a fire broke out in a synagogue. According to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, the cause of the fire was arson, Blagovest-info reports .
The synagogue is located on the second floor of a four-storey stone residential building. A bottle of flammable liquid was found near the building.
"Unknown persons wanted to throw this bottle through the window into the synagogue. However, the bottle, hitting the frame, fell to the ground. Part of the liquid spilled onto the frame and caught fire," the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
