A rally against the construction of a Hare Krishna complex was held in northern Moscow

On June 4, a public rally against the construction of a Hare Krishna complex was held in the Molzhaninovsky district in the north of Moscow, Interfax reports.

Residents of nearby areas came out to protest with banners "Sects destroy families", "Say no to the Hare Krishna center!", "Defend Orthodoxy!". Representatives of the initiative group collected signatures to cancel the decision of the Moscow government on the allocation of land to Hare Krishnas.

The rally was attended by pensioners, youth, representatives of the clergy. The protesters unanimously declared that they consider the Hare Krishnas a dangerous totalitarian sect.

Recall that in early June, the construction of the Krishna complex was discussed at a meeting of the district council.

As a result of the rally, a resolution was adopted demanding to cancel the decision to build a Hare Krishna center, which was handed over to the Moscow mayor's office.

"By your decision, you patronize the Krishnaite religious organization, which is clearly destructive in nature, thereby endangering the spiritual, moral and physical condition of the younger generation, endangering the fragile children's psyche," the authors of the document say.

According to the representative of the initiative group, among the signatories of the resolution there are not only Orthodox, but also Muslims.
