The participants of the All-Russian Patriotic Conference held in Moscow proposed to celebrate the Day of Russia not on June 12, but on September 21 (on the Orthodox holiday of the Nativity of the Virgin). They justify their opinion by the fact that on this day in 1862 the millennium of Russia was celebrated: in 862, the Novgorodians called for the reign of the Varangians Rurik, Sineus and Truvor.
"The work of the All-Russian Patriotic Conference was attended by about 100 leaders and members of 43 different patriotic organizations, including the leader of the People's Union party Sergei Baburin, the head of the Christian Renaissance Union Vladimir Osipov, co-chairman of the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, hegumen Kirill (Sakharov), chairman of the Russian National Cultural Center Dmitry Merkulov, Chairman of the Russian Party Vladimir Miloserdov, head of the Union of Orthodox Citizens Valentin Lebedev and leader of the Union of Orthodox Banner Bearers Leonid Simonovich-Niksic," Interfax reports .
