Statistical data on the state of the Russian Orthodox Church

Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Alexy II, opening the Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, cited statistical data.

According to him, the Moscow Patriarchate includes 156 dioceses, in which 196 bishops serve (148 diocesan and 48 vicars).

The ROC has 29,141 parishes, 769 monasteries (372 male and 392 female). The total number of clergy is 30,544.
