Oppositionists convicted of extremism in Bashkiria

On June 25, 2008, the Kirovsky Court of Ufa convicted Viktor Shmakov and Airat Dilmukhametov under Part 2 of Art. 280 (public calls for extremist activity, committed using the media) and Part 3 of Art. 212 (calls for active disobedience to the legitimate demands of government officials and riots) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Shmakov, editor-in-chief of the now defunct newspaper Provincial News, and Dilmukhametov, an opposition publicist, each received two years' probation (the charge required three years in prison).

We are talking about the articles attributed to Dilmukhametov "Advice from the experienced. Instructions for the behavior of participants in the revolution during mass popular demonstrations" and "A brief program of emergency and priority measures of the Bashkir Revolutionary Committee after the successful implementation of the revolution for the next 100 days", published in a special supplement "Revolt Square" newspaper "Provincial news".

Recall that Airat Dilmukhametov's brochure "Wars against bastards" was recently recognized as extremist material.
