A picket was held in Moscow in support of Tatar-Turkish lyceums

On June 25, a picket was held in front of the General Prosecutor's Office in Moscow in defense of the Tatar-Turkish lyceums . Earlier, the organizers of the protest action were denied permission to hold a picket near the Government House.

Participants of the action and activists of the movement "Vatan" appealed to Dmitry Medvedev and the public with a request to support the lyceums.

According to the picketers, "the closure of lyceums is nothing but a logical continuation of the destructive actions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation to ban national components in the educational system of the Russian Federation."

"We stand up for our interests, the future of our children and against the infringement of anyone's rights in the field of education. In Tatar-Turkish lyceums, unlike many schools, there is order, discipline, and most importantly, the high quality of education. We are against unceremonious interference in the educational activities of the Tatar-Turkish lyceums of the Republic of Tatarstan by the authorities of the Russian Federation and the persecution of lyceum teachers," the open letter says .

Earlier, a rally against the closure of lyceums was held in Kazan .
