Action "Canvas of the World" in Perm

As part of the celebration of the Youth Day, a flash mob "The Canvas of the World" took place on the central esplanade of Perm. About 115 people, participants of the action from the organizations "Bridge of Love", "Perm Volunteer Corps", DIMSI, "Vector of Friendship", the association "Anthill", "Ural-service" and several schools, marched along the central street of the city, demonstrating the "Canvas ".

"Canvas of the World" is a large fabric panel, in the creation of which from 2006 to 2008 schoolchildren and students, employees and volunteers of public organizations from cities and regions of the Perm Territory took part. Everyone who wished could create on bright patches of fabric images "symbolizing peace and friendship between people of different nationalities, religions and cultures."

The "cloth" is about 170 meters long and more than 2 meters wide, and consists of 8,000 shreds.

Participants of the volunteer march also carried about a dozen banners with slogans: "My world is without enmity!", "Make love, not war!", "I am Bashkir! And I feel good!", "My ancestors are Russians, Ukrainians and Komi-Permyaks And I'm proud of them!", "Volunteers of all countries, unite!" and etc.

The purpose of the action is to "counter the spread of xenophobia, enmity and intolerance, to multiply and root the language of peace and tolerance in the Permian community." The main attention is paid to "counteracting national and ethnic intolerance".

The event was supported by the administration of the Perm Territory, the administration of the city of Perm and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Perm Territory Tatyana Margolina.

The action was held within the framework of the public campaign "My world without enmity!". The first demonstration of the Canvas of the World took place on June 12, 2006.
