More than 2 thousand Muslim religious organizations are registered in the Volga Federal District

In the regions of the Volga Federal District (VFD), 2,193 thousand Muslim religious organizations are registered, Blagovest-info reports .

These data were presented by Vladimir Zorin, deputy plenipotentiary representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District, in his speech at the international conference "Islam Will Defeat Terrorism", held in Moscow on July 3-4.

V.Zorin noted that in addition to this, a significant number of Muslim religious associations consistently act on the rights of religious groups.

In the regions of the Okrug, according to the latest census, there are more than 5.79 million people belonging to nationalities for which Islam is a traditional religion. In 14 regions of the Volga Federal District there are 24 different spiritual administrations of Muslims.
