NSO-Samara activists convicted of extremism

On August 14, 2008, the Magistrate's Court of the Soviet District of Samara passed a guilty verdict on two activists of the regional branch of the National Socialist Society, Mikhail Bozhenov (born 1987) and Vladimir Ignatiev (born 1986), accused under Part 1 of Article 280 Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("public calls for the implementation of extremist activities").

They were charged with distributing the magazine Russkaya Volya (one of the issues of which was recognized as extremist material in the same court session), as well as applying neo-Nazi graffiti to the buildings of the city.

The court sentenced M. Bozhenov to two, and V. Ignatiev to one year of imprisonment conditionally without additional sanctions.
