On August 25, 2008, the Judicial Collegium for Civil Cases of the Samara Regional Court satisfied the lawyer's cassation appeal against recognizing the site "Islam as it is" as extremist for publishing a brochure about the Navruz holiday and returned the case for reconsideration to the court of first instance in a new composition.
Earlier, on July 18, 2008, the Samara District Court restored the deadline for appealing against the decision to recognize the site as extremist, since the site's management was not informed of this court decision and had no opportunity to present a defense or appeal the verdict.
It should be reminded that in Samara the trial on recognizing the text of the pamphlet "Novruz Holiday and Islamic Doctrine" as extremist is also ongoing, and the FSB department for the Samara region is attempting to initiate a criminal case under Art. 280 (public calls for extremist activity) and 282 (inciting hatred or enmity) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation against the imam of the historical mosque of Samara A.A. Kanyukaev and muezzin A.G. Sarvarov, who distributed this brochure among the parishioners.
