On August 31, a rally was held in Omsk against cutting down trees in the square of the Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture for the construction of an Armenian church. On August 21, Salavatsteklo LLC cut down trees of especially valuable species, including white willow 70-80 years old, fir and elm. The protesters do not object to the construction of the Armenian church in principle, but they do not agree with the choice of the site for the construction.
On June 20, the City Planning Council issued a building permit, and the cutting of trees was carried out without a permit. According to Elena Sveshnikova, chairman of the initiative group, all supervisory authorities and governor Leonid Polezhaev ignore oral and written appeals from local residents.
The protesters adopted a resolution requiring the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation to check the actions of the administration of Omsk, Rosprirodnadzor and law enforcement agencies that allowed the cutting of green spaces. In addition, the protesters demanded the resignation of the chairman of the committee of territorial public self-government A. Yakovlev, who did not inform the residents about the start of construction.
