On September 3, 2008, in the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, a native of Armenia S. Sahakyan was killed. The body of a man with traces of 11 stab wounds was found on Nogina Street. No personal belongings or money were stolen.
At the crime scene, investigators found a sheet of paper with an image of a swastika and the inscription, made in black dye on a stencil, “We declare war on you.”
According to eyewitnesses, there were two attackers, their faces were half covered with scarves. The police department believes that the crime was planned.
The investigative department for the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod Region opened a criminal case under clause "l" part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed on the basis of national hatred).
