The DPNI unification congress cemented the split

On September 13, 2008, a “unification” congress of the DPNI, prepared by the DPNI-Mossovet group (Alexei Mikhailov and others), took place in Moscow.

Initially, it was declared that all participants in the conflict situation would be invited to the congress (today there are three of them - the group of Alexander Belov and Vladimir Basmanov (DPNI itself), the group of Alexander Mikhailov (DPNI-Mossovet or "Russian DPNI") and the group of Dmitry Zubov (DPNI -Russian Civil Society") (the results of the congress held on July 12 by the Belov-Basmanov group were not recognized by the other schismatics).

As a result, “the unification congress was held only by supporters of A. Mikhailov, since Belov-Basmanov’s DPNI was simply not invited to the congress, and D. Zubov’s group, on the eve of September 12, itself refused to participate in it and called on its supporters to boycott the congress, citing participation in the work of the DPNI-Mossovet Yuri Gorsky (PZRK "Rus"), whom Zubov considers an unacceptable figure for cooperation. The Belov-Basmanov Group, as an alternative, announced a meeting of the organizing committee of the "international conference of nationalist forces" a day later, on September 14. Thus, the main result of this unification congress was the official consolidation of the split in the organization.

A number of organizational issues were adopted at the congress, in particular, a collegial management system was approved. The participants of the congress dissociated themselves from the course pursued by A. Belov towards unification with the “liberal opposition” (by which is meant a coalition with the “People” of P. Miloserdov and A. Navalny), and from the Belov-Basmanov group itself.

The organization unofficially intends to be called “Russian DPNI”. The group stated that it “is in constructive opposition to the internal political course of the current government, but does not intend to grist to the mill of Russia’s enemies working in the interests of Western countries.”

From the remaining statements of the congress it is clear that the conflict situation will only worsen, since the warring parties will have to fight for symbols (which are the same for the organizations) and for the “Russian March” brand, the priority in organizing which neither Belov’s group nor Mikhailov group.
