The Moscow authorities decided to reconstruct the buildings belonging to the Sretensky Stauropegial Monastery at the expense of the capital budget.
"As a result of the work, it is planned to create a single church-architectural ensemble" Sretensky stauropegic men's monastery "on the basis of cultural heritage objects. They were transferred for free use to the Sretensky stauropegic men's monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate," said a representative of the city administration.
The buildings of the monastery are located at the following addresses: Bolshaya Lubyanka Street, 17 and 19, and Rozhdestvensky Boulevard, 18.
The Moscow Committee for Architecture, as a state customer, will have to prepare a concept for the reconstruction within three months. The final decision on what work needs to be done will be made by the Public Council under the Mayor of Moscow on the problems of forming the urban planning and architectural and artistic appearance of the city.
