No extremism found in New Petersburg

On October 21, 2008, the St. Petersburg City Court rejected the claim of Rossvyazohrankultura regarding the closure of the New Petersburg newspaper, finding no signs of extremism in the articles “Why will we go to the march of dissent” by Nikolai Andrushchenko and “Here is the real candidate” by Konstantin Chernyaev.

According to the newspaper's lawyer Andrei Kovalev, the judge listened to the arguments of the defense, which challenged the results of the linguistic examination conducted by North-Western Forensic Expertise LLC. The expert concluded that the texts of the articles can provoke readers to aggression towards certain social and national groups. “But how can this be known, who is provoking what? Only from the results of opinion polls. But they were not conducted,” said the lawyer.
