On October 23, 2008, about 12 young people held a picket in front of the office of the organization "Soldier's Mothers" in St. Petersburg. The participants of the event, mainly from the neo-Nazi organization "Slavic Union", shouted the slogans "Glory to the Airborne Forces", "You make girls out of boys", "Glory to Russia", "Glory to the Russian people", "Glory to the Russian weapons", "Down with Polyakov" . Witnesses note that one of the picket participants "stood with a horn in a leather jacket and shouted nationalist slogans" .
The protesters tried to break into the office. However, employees of the "Soldier's Mothers" organization, who were inside, blocked the door and did not let the picketers in. The action lasted about 40 minutes.
Ella Polyakova, the leader of the St. Petersburg branch of the organization "Soldier's Mothers", turned to the police in connection with the incident.
