On November 5, 2008, the Novosibirsk Regional Court passed a sentence on a group accused of a whole series of crimes, including a series of arson attacks on gypsy houses in the city of Iskitim (Novosibirsk Region), as a result of which an 8-year-old child died and hundreds of people were left homeless.
There were seven defendants in the dock. The leaders of the group were Alexander Grigoriev (Grinya) and Oleg Bakharev.
Oleg Bakharev, charged under Art. 162 part 4 p. "a" (robbery committed by an organized group); Art. 163 part 3 p. "a" (extortion committed by an organized group); Art. 167 part 2 (deliberate destruction or damage to another's property, committed from hooligan damage) was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony.
Alexander Grigoriev, charged under Art. 162 part 4 p. "a"; Art. 163 part 3 p. "a"; Art. 330 part 2 (arbitrariness with the use of violence); Art. 167 part 2; Art. 226 part 4 p. "a, b" (theft or extortion of weapons committed by an organized group with the use of violence); Art. 229 part 3, paragraph "a, c" (Theft or extortion of narcotic drugs, committed by an organized group with the use of violence), was sentenced to 14.5 years in a strict regime colony.
Viktor Grishin, accused under Art. 162 part 4 p. "a"; Art. 167 part 2; Art. 226 part 4 p. "a, b" - sentenced to 11 years in a strict regime colony.
Oleg Damansky, accused under Art. 162 part 4 p. "a"; Art. 330 part 2; Art. 167 part 2; Art. 226 part 4 p. "a, b"; Art. 229 part 3 p. "a, c" - 12 years in a strict regime colony.

Let us recall that the case was referred to the court on March 31, 2006. The litigation lasted over 2 years. The verdict came into force only in April 2009, when it was approved by the Supreme Court.
The motive of hatred was not taken into account in the verdict. It is also indicative that the death of the child was not reflected in the verdict.
