The Russian Orthodox Church is ready to support the development of the Islamic education system

On November 13, speaking at a conference on Islamic education, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, Deputy Head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, announced the readiness of the Russian Orthodox Church to support the development of a modern system of Islamic education.

"All children and young people who practice Islam should have every right to have the opportunity, from kindergarten to postgraduate years, to learn the religious tradition and wisdom passed down to them by their ancestors," the priest said.

In his opinion, the study of one's religious tradition, along with the religious norms of one's neighbor, contributes to the development of interreligious dialogue and "gives an inoculation against radicalism and disdain for believers of other religions."
