On November 26, 2008, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow issued a decision to terminate the activities of the Duel newspaper and invalidate the media registration certificate.
After the entry into force of the decision, Rossvyazkomnadzor will issue an order to terminate the activities of this mass media outlet, the report says.
Let us recall that Rossvyazkomnadzor filed a claim with the Zamoskvoretsky District Court to terminate the activities of the Duel newspaper for publishing materials "containing information substantiating and calling for extremist activity . " On November 24, 2008, the court recognized the collection "Death to Russia!", published in the newspaper on July 4, 2006, as extremist material. For this material, the newspaper received a warning from Rossvyazokhrankultura (see the text of the expert opinion here ) in April 2007. Since January 2008, the editor-in-chief of the Duel newspaper, Yuri Mukhin, has been charged under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
In November 2007, the first court decision was made to liquidate the Duel newspaper, which was canceled by the Moscow City Court on February 28, 2008.
