Director of the Human Rights Center of the World Russian People's Council, Associate Professor of the Moscow State Linguistic University Roman Silantyev called on the authorities to take special measures to protect the North Caucasian clergy, Interfax reports .
"The state annually invests very solid funds in support of Islamic education and receives real returns from this program, however, special measures to protect the traditional Muslim clergy from attacks by militants and defamation leave much to be desired," R. Silantyev noted.
According to him, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church have long been asking the authorities to strengthen the protection of the clergy in the North Caucasus.
In R. Silantyev's opinion, "it is high time to spread Ramzan Kadyrov's method," aimed at preventing the fight against Wahhabis, to the entire North Caucasus."
Recall that over the past year, cases of attacks on representatives of the Islamic clergy in the North Caucasus have become more frequent.
