On October 6, 2008, the Leninsky District Court of Nizhny Tagil refused to satisfy the demand of a candidate for the post of head of the city, Alexei Chekanov, to remove another candidate, Valentina Isaeva, from the election. This decision was later upheld by the Judicial Collegium for Civil Cases of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court.
One of the complaints against Isayeva was that her opponent saw extremism in her campaign video called "Worker". Recall that earlier this video was taken off the air, as it allegedly aroused social hatred.
However, the court pointed out that campaigning "aimed at protecting the ideas of social justice" cannot be considered as inciting social hatred, and the phrase "the well-fed does not understand the hungry" "is a folk proverb and cannot be equated with extremism" .
