On January 17, 2009, a 22-year-old fourth-year student of the Faculty of Physical Education of Moscow State University was attacked in Moscow. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition with stab wounds. The student was attacked in the area of the Lenin Hills, near the hostel where he lives.
It is not excluded that the attack was motivated by national hatred. A criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing grievous bodily harm). Relatives of the victim in Ulan-Ude refused to communicate with the press.
On January 21, during a mass raid, police officers detained three Nazi skinheads suspected of this crime.
