A girl who killed a Tatar student was convicted in St. Petersburg

On January 12, 2009, it became known that a verdict was passed in St. Petersburg in the case of the murder of Tatar student Damir Zainullin.

The 23-year-old girl Maria Khapilina, accused in this case, was found guilty under paragraph "g" of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed by a group of persons by prior agreement or by an organized group) and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The investigation was aware of Khapilina's involvement in the circles of Nazi skinheads, but, according to the Deputy Prosecutor of St. Petersburg Alexei Mayakov, it was only proved in court that "Zainullin collided with one of the guys, to whom Khapilina was almost a godmother. There are signs of extremism in this crime, but they have not been proven. Therefore, the murder was qualified as a murder on the basis of personal hostility . "
